For Time is
nothing if not amenable.
Elizabeth Bishop

After the quietest second
the moon vibrates harmonies
of the resolute sun, secured by the wisdom
of knowing how to keep
in silver sparkling
the clarity and duplicity
of the dawn.
In agreement with Time
they measure the distance
knowing when
(from the human
sky)
the stars and satellites
can germinate life.
For any planet, so humus can rise above,
needs the gravity
of holding by the sole
the love.

You cherish me, my dear,
and in the basin I want to wash your hands
full of meteors that now and then
scribe
or dodge and hide
in silence
for after a time
from a shadow’s dive
emerge
soaked in flames.
